Barbara Smallwood

Barbara Smallwood is an accomplished professional with over 35 years of experience in the municipal sector. She is recognized as a leading expert in her field, having made significant contributions to the financial services industry throughout her career. Recently serving as a sales manager on the Citi Municipal Desk, Barbara has a proven track record of managing top-tier municipal accounts.

In addition to her responsibilities in handling prestigious accounts, Barbara has also played a crucial role in talent acquisition and development. She has been actively involved in hiring new talent and training sales analysts, ensuring the growth and success of her team.

Barbara’s journey began in Los Angeles, where she started as a sales coordinator in the municipal high-net-worth sector. Her dedication and expertise propelled her to become a marketing manager in retail sales for Smith Barney. In 1992, she was transferred to Dallas to oversee the merger between Smith Barney and Shearson Lehman. Afterward, Barbara returned to Los Angeles to pursue a career in institutional muni sales. In 2015, she made a significant move to New York City to further advance her career.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Barbara has been actively involved in promoting inclusion and diversity. She has played a crucial role in LGBTQ+ recruiting for the industry and helped with inauguration in one of the first Pride Networks and Work Streams for the markets industry.  Additionally, she has been engaged in various corporate initiatives and affinity groups, including Women and Underrepresented Minorities (URM).

Barbara’s holds a Series 7, General Securities Representative, 63, Uniform State Agency, 53, Municipal Securities Principal, and 24 license from FINRA and attended the University of Florida.   She currently resides in Atlanta.
